My favorite painting is by Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec-"At the Moulin Rouge." I love the story behind this piece. May, the girl in the bottom right corner, was cut out of the painting . The discarded part of the canvas was later found and the piece was restored to its original intent.
May was cout out as she was deemed too "unattractive" by the patron that bought the painting. This is my modern version of May feeling very attractive and taking slefies with her iPhone.
The chalk piece is 9 ft x 9 ft. Clearwater Chalk Festival.
This is an anamorphic chalk piece that I made with my students for field day. There are three 4 ft x 12 ft panels in the back that my studnets helped paint for a few weeks before the event. If you look closely, you can see a seam near my feet where the pavement starts and the wood panels begin.
On the day of the event, we painted the 12 ft x 24 ft area in front of the panels. We used tempera paint instead of chalk so students and faculty could have fun taking photos "falling off the building."
